Why create a podcast?

Audio content consumption has exploded over the last 5 years and has become a mainstream medium for social engagement, education and entertainment. There were over 584 million podcast listeners globally in 2025 and projections estimate this growing to 651.7 million by 2027.

Podcasts can:

  • Open channels of communication and conversation between scientists, research communities and society
  • Open up opportunities for collaboration
  • Provide a bespoke and unique outreach and public engagement resource tool
  • Improve and enhance opportunities to secure funding
  • Improve and increase impact and citation metrics (Altmetric scores, REF assessments)
  • Engage listeners across multiple channels and platforms

We will:

  • Bring your research to life through an interesting and engaging discussion or expertly crafted script
  • Ensure your podcast is tailored to your needs and focused on your objectives and intended audience
  • Keep your time investment to an absolute minimum
  • Provide you with the final MP3 files and the PDF transcript file to support accessibility requirements

Scripted Podcast

This option is for those who want to summarise a single research paper only. Our team will write a 1500 – 1700 word plain language summary of your research paper, and our voice-over artists will professionally narrate it into a 10-minute audiobook. It will then be published in our audio library along with the transcript and a downloadable PDF file, and uploaded to the Science Natters podcast profile on various hosting platforms. We will also provide you with copies of the final audio files and promote your podcast across our social media profiles to amplify the reach and impact.

Interview Podcast

Through a thought-provoking and engaging discussion with our podcast hosts, we will explore your research, aims, objectives and goals to bring clarity to your research. This option is for those who want to summarise a full research project, or multiple research papers (up to 3 papers). Our team will produce a 20-minute podcast. It will then be published in our audio library along with the transcript and a downloadable PDF file, and will be uploaded to the Science Natters podcast profile on various hosting platforms. We will also provide you with copies of the final audio files and promote your podcast across our social media profiles to amplify the reach and impact.
